Hospitality Guest Experience
A hotel group operating properties across the region needed to unify guest Wi-Fi, room controls and personalisation onto a single connected platform. MEAICON delivered the network infrastructure, IoT integration and guest data security framework.
The challenge
What the client needed
A hotel group with properties across the Gulf and North Africa was offering guest Wi-Fi, in-room climate and lighting controls, and a loyalty programme — each running on disconnected systems. Guests had to authenticate separately for Wi-Fi, use a separate app for room controls, and present a loyalty card at check-in. There was no way to recognise a returning guest's preferences automatically across these touchpoints.
The group wanted a connected guest experience where a single authentication unlocked Wi-Fi, room controls and personalised service. But unifying these systems meant guest data — preferences, behaviour, location within the property — would flow across more systems, raising data protection and privacy concerns under regional regulations.
Our approach
How we engaged
MEAICON began with an audit of the guest journey across representative properties — from check-in through Wi-Fi onboarding, room control usage and loyalty programme interaction. We mapped where separate authentications created friction and where guest data was siloed, preventing personalisation.
The network, IoT and data protection designs were developed in parallel. The network backbone had to support IoT device density across guest rooms; the integration layer had to connect Wi-Fi, room controls and the property management system; and the data framework had to handle guest preferences and behaviour data in compliance with regional privacy regulations.
- Guest journey audit and system integration mapping across properties
- Single-authentication guest platform architecture design
- IoT network infrastructure for in-room device density and control
- Guest data protection framework compliant with regional privacy regulations
The solution
What we delivered
The delivered platform gives guests a single authentication that unlocks Wi-Fi, room controls and personalised service across the property. A returning guest's preferences — room temperature, lighting scenes, dietary notes — are recognised at check-in and applied automatically through the IoT-connected room environment.
The network infrastructure supporting the platform handles the density of IoT devices across guest rooms — thermostats, lighting controllers, smart sensors — with sufficient bandwidth for simultaneous guest Wi-Fi. Guest data flowing across the platform is protected under a privacy framework that gives guests control over what is stored and shared, in compliance with regional data protection regulations.
Outcomes
What changed
1
Single guest authentication
3
Touchpoints unified (Wi-Fi, IoT, loyalty)
100%
Guest data encrypted at rest
Zero
Manual re-authentication for returning guests
