Healthcare Critical Uptime
A specialty hospital in the region needed critical facility connectivity, nurse call, surveillance and data protection integrated into one monitored network. MEAICON delivered the unified infrastructure with compliance-grade data protection.
The challenge
What the client needed
A specialty hospital operating in the Gulf was running critical systems — nurse call, building management, CCTV surveillance and electronic health records — across separate, fragmented networks. When a fault occurred in one system, operators had no consolidated view to see whether it was isolated or part of a broader facility issue.
Response times in critical care areas were affected by the lack of integration between nurse call alerts and the security and building management systems. Meanwhile, patient data held across these systems needed to meet increasingly stringent healthcare data protection regulations, but the existing infrastructure had no unified compliance framework.
Our approach
How we engaged
MEAICON conducted a full assessment of the hospital's network architecture, mapping every critical system from nurse call stations to CCTV cameras to the data centre hosting electronic health records. We identified the integration points where a unified monitoring layer could correlate alarms and events across all systems.
The data protection track ran in parallel. We assessed the hospital's data flows against regional healthcare regulations and international standards, designing a compliance framework that applied consistent protection across every system touching patient data.
- Network assessment and critical system mapping across the facility
- Unified monitoring layer design for alarm and event correlation
- Healthcare data protection and compliance framework development
- Integration of nurse call, surveillance and building management systems
The solution
What we delivered
The delivered infrastructure integrates nurse call, CCTV surveillance, building management and electronic health records onto a single monitored network. A unified operations console gives facility staff a consolidated view of all alarms and events, so a nurse call trigger, a CCTV alert and a building system fault appear in context alongside each other.
Patient data flowing across the network is protected to regulatory standard, with encryption, access controls and audit logging applied consistently across every system. The monitoring layer provides continuous visibility, so issues are detected and escalated before they affect clinical operations.
