Government Smart City Infrastructure

A government agency in the GCC needed a unified command centre to correlate city-wide CCTV, sensor feeds and incident response across multiple agencies. MEAICON delivered the fibre backbone, multi-screen AV walls and an integrated operations dashboard.

The challenge

What the client needed

A government agency responsible for city operations across a major metropolitan area was operating with siloed systems. Traffic management, emergency response, public safety CCTV and environmental sensors each ran on separate networks managed by different departments. When an incident occurred, operators had to switch between multiple consoles to piece together what was happening.

The agency wanted a single command centre where all feeds — video, sensor data, alarm systems — were consolidated onto one screen wall and correlated in real time. The underlying fibre backbone also needed to be upgraded to handle the aggregate bandwidth of thousands of concurrent feeds.

Our approach

How we engaged

MEAICON began with a full audit of the existing city-wide network topology, identifying bandwidth bottlenecks and single points of failure across the fibre plant. We then designed a redundant ring topology that could sustain full feed throughput even if a segment was cut.

The command centre design was developed in close collaboration with the agency's operations team, ensuring the AV wall layout, desk positioning and workflow matched how operators actually work during incidents. We ran simulation exercises to validate the design before deployment.

  • Network audit and redundant fibre ring topology design
  • Multi-screen AV wall engineering and installation
  • Integrated operations dashboard with event correlation engine
  • Agency workflow mapping and operator training programme

The solution

What we delivered

The delivered command centre features a multi-screen video wall displaying live CCTV feeds, sensor telemetry and incident alerts in a unified view. A custom correlation engine links events across feeds — for example, matching a traffic sensor trigger to nearby camera footage and surfacing both to the operator in a single pane.

The fibre backbone feeding the centre was rebuilt as a redundant ring with diverse routing, ensuring continuous feed delivery even during a fibre cut. The operations dashboard was integrated with each agency's existing systems through secure APIs, so no department had to abandon its own tools to participate.
